Olympic news

Jamie Gartside, partner at Tay Valley Veterinary and Equine Centre, Perth has been selected to join the Equine Veterinary Services team for the Olympic Games at London 2012. Jamie will be based at the Equestrian Venue at Greenwich Park throughout the Games and will be part of the treating vet team which will be responsible for any incidents occurring before, during and after competition.

In addition to vets the veterinary service team includes farriers and forge technicians, vet nurses, physiotherapists and horse ambulance drivers. There will be a specialist horse cooling team should the weather require it, and a screen team should the worst happen. The centre point for Veterinary services will be a purpose built clinic located between the main arena and stables containing examination rooms, diagnostic imaging equipment and a lab. Surgical cases will be transported by horse ambulance to referral hospitals close to London.
